Gabriel Island Boat Cruise
Activity Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at Royal Road, from where we'll head to the pier and board the catamaran that will take us to the northern islands.
On board the catamaran, we'll sail for 1.5 hours through the turquoise waters of northern Mauritius. From the deck, we'll admire the coastline dotted with colourful houses and coral beaches. Did you know that this area is considered one of the most photogenic in the country because of its shades of blue that change with the light of day? We'll have the privilege of seeing it with our own eyes!
As we sail, we'll spot the imposing Coin de Mire, also known as Gunner's Quoin, a rocky islet with a unique, abruptly cut shape that emerges from the ocean like a natural fortress. Its cliffs are home to endemic birds such as the Mauritius petrel and the brown booby.
Upon arrival at Gabriel Island, a protected paradise of white sands and crystal-clear waters, you'll have an hour of free time to explore. You can snorkel among the coral reefs, swim among multicoloured fish, or simply relax in the sun. This islet, along with its neighbour Île Plate, forms part of a nature reserve that protects one of the purest marine ecosystems in the Indian Ocean. It's an unrivalled paradise!
Afterwards, a delicious lunch will await us on board, consisting of grilled fresh fish, chicken, salads and vegetarian options, accompanied by alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and a relaxed atmosphere. After 1.5 hours of rest and indulging our taste buds, we'll begin our return to Grand Baie, taking in other landscapes of the north coast of Mauritius.
Finally, after 6 to 7 hours in total, we'll say goodbye at the initial meeting point.
